| Here are two similar images. Which one of these do you
prefer?
Email me to let me know which one you like and why. I'll post some
of the results on this page. This image was taken near Tioga Pass area in eastern Yosemite at the Olmstead Lookout parking area. They were taken at different times of the day as evidenced by the differences in the sky. |
| Here are some of your comments I've received on this image: | ||
| Image #1 (Top) | Image #2 (Bottom) | |
| Ira K | I like the close-up better | |
| Buddy P | The boulder somehow draws the eye to the tree. | |
| Rick H | I like the wide angle shot. I find the foreground appealing and I also enjoy the clouds as opposed to the clear blue sky. | |
| Susan | I like the second one best - the detail on the surface - lines and indentions are very interesting to me. | |
| Ron D | I enjoy the closer shot of the boulder and
tree much more than the longer shot. My reasons are: 1) The greater detail and relief of the boulder enhancing the contrasts and crags in its surface. 2) The sharper focus of the tree showing the sunlight reflecting off the leaves. 3) The stark contrasts of both subjects against the darker, clear blue sky. 4) Your placement of the primary and secondary subjects in the photo brings them into a satisfying balance. In your second shot, the two boulders and two trees are overwhelmed by the massive rock face of the mountain, losing all the beauty of the closer shot, in my opinion. |

| Maurice H | The second one MUST be it.. | |
| Dennis L | Definitely the second! First looks washed out....over-exposed. | |
| Robert E |
I like image 1 best of the two because it is simpler and defines the contrast of subjects better.

have to go with #2 - much more interesting overall. The lines of the rock face really draw your eye around the image. | |
| Charles A | #2 more graphically powerful. Everything draws the eye to the boulders on top. Much more interest. | |
| Ken B |
I do like the first one but I also have to choose the second one - it seems to have a lower contrast of the bright rock and texture. |
|
| Denis H | I prefer the top one- better light -stronger. | |

I love the 2nd picture of the Tioga pass.....because it makes it look like you were sliding off the cliff to take the picture!! |
