Birds-eye View

This great blue heron was taken in Everglades National Park (main entrance - near Homestead, FL). It was about a half hour after dawn and I was photographing an egret with an effective 600mm lens when this heron flew up behind me on the railing of the boardwalk. It was so close that all I was able to get this "head and neck" view of it looking into the sunrise in the 2nd picture. After I shot the close up, I changed lenses and took the first shot.
