| Alabama Hills is one of those out-of-the-way beautiful places just outside of Lone Pine, California at the base of Mt Whitney. It has a legacy of being the site where many movies, TV series and commercials have been filmed. It have served as the background for dozens of old westerns including Hopalong Cassidy, Gene Autry, and the Lone Ranger. You've seen the Alabama Hills in numerous commercials, TV shows, and more recent movies such as "Tremors", "Maverick" and even "Gladiator. Classics such as "Gunga Din", "Springfield Rifle", and "How the West Was Won", were also filmed on sites now known as "Movie Flats" and Movie Flat Rd. |
