Boring!! NOT!

How many times have you bored someone with your vacation pictures??  Most of us have done it.

There are only TWO rules in photography (these are MY rules - other photographers may disagree!):

 

1) Film is Cheap.  (i.e., take lots of pictures)

2) Never show a bad picture.

Never show your bad pictures.  This is one of the most important rules in photography.  One that is broken ALL of the time.  We all take bad pictures.  The difference between a good photographer and a great photographer is the percentage of good pictures we get.  Give a monkey a camera and let it take hundreds of picture, there is bound to be one good one in there! 

When you show your pictures, only show your very best.  Not only will you not bore people, but they will think you are a better photographer than you really are!  I'm not saying your not a good photographer, but if you only show your best work, people will think you're better than whatever level you are at.

I like to think that I'm a pretty good photographer (don't we all!).  Yet, I may go on vacation and shoot 400 -600 pictures.  Out of those I RARELY show anyone more than 10.  It's not easy to do, but try it - I think you (and your friends and relatives) will be very happy with the results!
