What we've learned so far...
...Light comes in all colors but film EXPECTS it to be a certain color.

...you can add light using an electronic flash.

...you can modify the light using color compensation filters.
...warming filters are very useful on cloudy days.
...since film can't record a very great range of contrast, you can use a graduated neutral density filter to help bring the contrast into a range that can be captured.
  ...tripods help take sharp pictures.
...be careful when shooting at shutter speeds of 1/15 - 1 second.
...use a lightbox and loupe to look at slides to determine how sharp your pictures really are.
...YOU control depth of field if you use "aperture priority" or "manual" exposure modes on your camera.  This technique can make or break a picture!
...use the right lens for the right result.  Use wide-angle lenses for landscapes; short telephoto for people; and long telephoto for wildlife.
...zoom lenses can save space, weight and cost but beware of the low-end and "do it all" zoom lenses.
